LifeStart provides extensive foster family support including ongoing training, consultation, and brainstorming regarding the needs of children in the home.

We serve children (and adults) with:

• Machine Dependency
• Tube Feeds
• Mental Retardation
• Autism and Similar Disorders

Our Support Services Include:

• Nursing and social work services
• In-home attendant care
• 24-hour on-call MR/DD professionals for consultation and emergencies
• Highly specialized positive behavioral supports
• Extensive staff knowledge of the medical needs of children with complex conditions

Our Foster Families:

• Often have backgrounds in healthcare-related fields or MR/DD.
• Are trained in and have assisted with the implementation of high-tech developmental interventions such as precision teaching or adaptive behavior analysis.
• Are trained to effectively address attachment concerns in MR/DD non-verbal children.
• Can receive reimbursement allowing one parent to stay at home full-time
